Bramble Croft

England: Heart of England: Nottinghamshire and Robin Hood Country: Sutton-in-Ashfield

***

Holiday Home On Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire Border, England

The property’s proximity to the M1 motorway and A38 road make it an ideal base for touring both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Nearby attractions include Matlock and Matlock Bath, Bakewell (home of the famous Bakewell Pudding), and the spa town of Buxton. The historic stately homes of Hardwick Hall, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House also range from approx. 5 to twenty miles from the property. Bolsover Castle, Wingfield Manor (for many years Mary Queen of Scots’ prison before her execution) and Chesterfield’s famous crooked spire church are a short drive away. Also close by in Nottinghamshire are Teversal Grange (the reputed setting for D.H Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover), Sherwood Forest (the fabled stomping ground of Robin Hood), Nottingham Castle, Rufford Abbey, Clumber Park and Newstead Abbey (home of the renowned poet and philanderer Lord Byron). For those who like the outdoor life the Peak District affords spectacular rambles and unrivalled scenic splendour.
