Being the gateway to Dovedale, Ashbourne is certainly an excellent venue for those wishing to explore the Derbyshire Dales and Staffordshire moorlands on foot. For those who prefer pedal power, the Tissington Trail starts in town and offers a cycle friendly route to Hartington and beyond. Ashbourne is well appointed with fine pubs and hostelries, as well as great restaurants and cafes for those wishing to be catered for. Traditional butchers, bakers and an excellent fish and game monger also grace its cobbled streets. Antiques also feature heavily in the town with many antique shops side by side in the well appointed Church Street.
