Glen Tachur Manor

Scotland: Ayrshire and Arran: Girvan

Idyllically located within 6 acres of mature woodland gardens

Idyllically located within 5 acres of mature woodland gardens, this former Royal Hunting Lodge dates back to 1897 and makes a perfect holiday retreat for larger groups of family and friends. As you enter the imposing entrance hall and main lounge with its beautiful original wood panelling and open fires, you can almost feel the history of this magnificent country house surround you. The property has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment programme for the comfort of visitors and the layout is family orientated. There is a splendid games room with pool table and a smaller games / toy room for younger children. The large private grounds are well-established and safe for children to play. There is a patio area, garden furniture and barbecue for outdoor living.

Glentucker Manor is well located for exploring the Galloway Forest Park - the largest forest park in Britain including moorland and loch rising towards the rugged grandeur of granite mountains. With forest drives, walking, cycling and horse-riding routes there is plenty of choice for outdoor activities. Get close to nature with lots of opportunities to see red deer, wild goats and red squirrel stations as well as birds of prey and many other species to delight ornithologists. Golf is a popular pursuit with Turnberry less than an hour's drive and lots of other courses in the area for all standards. The Burns Heritage Trail is literally on the doorstep and day trips can be enjoyed to the popular market towns of Ayr and Newton Stewart. Hunting and fishing permits are available on request. The sleepy village of Barrhill is 2 miles away with a shop, pub and a hotel.
