Lammerside House is a three bedroomed holiday cottage ideally situated to take advantage of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks as it's nestled in the upper Eden Valley. Only two miles from the unique and quaint village of Kirkby Stephen which has just been named as Calor Village of the Year for England 2009 and Northern England Village of the Year 2009. Kirkby Stephen is a small town in the Upper Eden valley which was formerly in the old county of Westmorland, now Cumbria. This is an area of Cumbria much less well known than the Lake District, but equally appealing. A traditional market town of historic buildings, cobbled yards, quaint corners and interesting shops, it is surrounded by a landscape of pastoral rural scenery and wild uplands. Kirkby Stephen has developed a strong and self-sufficient identity and a vibrant sense of community. There is a wide range of activities and sight seeing to keep you fully occupied. For those who want to be more active the area is ideal for walking, cycling, kayaking and many more outdoor activities. Both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks offer all these activites from beginer and those happy to just amble or potter about to those who wish to push their skill and ability to the limits. The area offers many opportunities to sample the local fare from good honest pub food with locally brewed premium ales, fine dining, coffee and tea shops and of course fish & chips! Despite the wide range of activities and entertainments available many visitors simply want to take in the clean air and relax amongst the most beautiful and tranquil scenery in the country.
